Summer, in edible form

Right now I am enjoying dainty, bright red strawberries. They are delish. I urge everyone to find their local farmer's market and go get some. There are a couple of different foods that capture summer in just one taste, and certainly strawberries lead that pack. Other contenders? I'd say peaches, corn, tomatoes, blueberry pie, lobster...and frozen Milky Way bars. Post your favorites, inquiring Chefty wants to know.

I'm definitely there with you on the strawberries, I've been eating them every day for the past few weeks - with my Special K! Argh. I think ice cream tops the edible summer list for me, especially mocha chip from Pinecroft.

Fresh herbs, especially basil and tarragon. Heirloom tomatoes, and I agree with the corn and berries, of course....

A concoction to try - pizza with fresh cornmeal crust (labor intensive but oh so worth it), topped with fresh tomatoes, basil, and semisoft cheese of choice (I like a blend of mozz and gouda).

c-m: that pizza sounds divine. Dough is a mix of flur & cornmeal, or just dusted with cornmeal (a la Two Boots)?
